TDI Advanced Wreck Diver Training in Stuart, Florida

TDI • Technical Diving

Wreck penetration requires a planned exit, sufficient gas to complete it and the skills to stay with the plan when conditions change. TDI Advanced Wreck Diver develops those skills through structured training and evaluated wreck-penetration dives.

Who this course is for

  • Minimum age 18.
  • SDI Advanced Diver certification or an accepted equivalent, as specified by the current TDI standard.
  • At least 50 logged dives.
  • SDI Wreck Diver or TDI Cavern Diver certification, or an accepted equivalent.
  • Review of existing gas, decompression and depth qualifications, medical fitness, experience and equipment.

Course structure

The course requires six wreck-penetration dives, a minimum of 100 minutes of bottom time and at least eight hours of academic instruction and briefing. TDI sets a maximum training depth of 55 metres / 180 feet, but every dive remains within the diver’s existing depth, gas and decompression qualifications and the instructor’s site plan.

What you will work on

  • Wreck evaluation, penetration planning and continuous guideline use.
  • Gas planning, team positioning, propulsion and silt management.
  • Lost visibility, lost line, entanglement and other emergency responses.
  • Redundant breathing systems, primary and backup lights, reels and cutting tools.

Scope and safety

Advanced Wreck Diver is a diver qualification. It does not by itself add decompression, gas or depth privileges beyond the diver’s existing training. It also does not qualify the graduate as an Advanced Wreck Instructor. Technical planning and course suitability are reviewed before enrollment.

Frequently asked questions

Is this an SDI recreational wreck course?

No. This is TDI technical wreck-penetration training. SDI Wreck Diver programs have a different scope.

Does the 180-foot limit mean every dive goes that deep?

No. It is an agency maximum, not a target. Training must remain within existing qualifications, conditions and the agreed dive plan.

How many dives are required?

The minimum is six wreck-penetration dives and 100 minutes of bottom time.

Will I become an instructor?

No. This page is for the Advanced Wreck Diver course. Instructor qualification requires a separate instructor program with the proper trainer authorization.

Can I use my own equipment?

What should I send with an inquiry?

Can weather change the training schedule?

Yes. Conditions and site suitability determine when practical training can proceed. The schedule is confirmed with the instructor.
