St. Lucie Inlet planning reference
Open this report’s location reference in Google Maps. This is a planning reference, not a Stuart Scuba branch or confirmed departure point.
Planning area: Chart-derived St. Lucie Inlet seaward mouth [27.1667, -80.149]; WGS84 geodesic 2 NM (3704 m) due east at initial bearing 90° true gives [27.166695, -80.1116267]. Reference coordinates are approximately digitized from the current NOAA ENC (tens-of-metres uncertainty), not navigation waypoints. NWS request [27.1667, -80.1116]; returned model location 27.18, -80.12; marine zone AMZ555. Land forecast is a separate city point [27.1975, -80.2528]. NOAA South Point, St. Lucie Inlet station 8722375 is a representative tide station, not an offshore measurement. Heights are ft above MLLW; no manual tide-time correction is applied.
Seas color scale: The improvement sequence is red to yellow, yellow to blue, then blue to green. This Stuart Scuba planning color combines sea height and period, using the upper daily height and shortest displayed period. At the same height, longer periods can improve the color by at most one neighboring step. For example, 4 ft at 5 s is red/yellow, 3 ft at 5 s is yellow/blue, and 2 ft at 5 s is mostly green with some blue; 2 ft at 2 s stays blue. The base anchors are green at 1 ft or less, blue at 2 ft, yellow at 3 ft and red at 4 ft, with interpolation between them. Period credit is zero at 2 s or less and grows to one color step at 6 s or longer; seas of 5 ft or higher remain red regardless of period. A bar blends only the two neighboring colors for its height/period index, rather than running through every color from top to bottom. Bars rise from zero to the upper height; a dashed mark shows the lower height. Hatching identifies an estimated height and/or period. Wave caps are illustrative. This is not an official NWS rating; wind, current, thunderstorms, advisories and the captain's current assessment still matter. Colors do not authorize a dive or charter.
Wind compasses: calm 0–3 kt; light above 3 and below 12 kt; breezy 12–19 kt; strong 20+ kt. mph is converted internally only for icon selection. Easterly amber and westerly teal are separate nearshore-direction cues, never dive clearance. Variable winds have no fixed bearing. Preserve full point/land qualifications in day details.

Solar method: NOAA approximate solar equations, apparent horizon zenith 90.833°, at the named location reference; approximately 1–2 minute accuracy, local America/New_York conversion. Tide predictions were sorted together and validated as strictly increasing and alternating H/L. The curve is a visual guide; DST uses each local day’s actual duration. No local tide heights/times were inferred.
NDBC 41114 Fort Pierce is distant regional context only, not a St. Lucie Inlet measurement and never averaged into forecasts. NWPS viewer returned no numerical point series; no period was invented from its imagery.
