ERDI ERD Tender Training in Stuart, Florida
ERDI • Public Safety Training
A good tender is an active part of the dive team. The tender maintains communications, manages the line and helps the diver work within the plan. ERD Tender prepares surface-support personnel for that role without requiring them to become scuba divers.
Who this course is for
- Minimum age 18.
- Current CPR, first aid and oxygen administration qualifications.
- Ability to participate in the practical surface-support exercises and complete required paperwork.
Course structure
This is a non-diving public safety support course. Standards provide approximately two hours of classroom training, four hours of confined-water practical work and six hours of open-water practical work. Open-water exercises are conducted in daylight. The tender works from the surface; the practical environment does not turn the course into a diver certification.
What you will work on
- Diver–tender communications and agreed line signals.
- Line handling, equipment checks and diver assistance.
- Tender safety, personal flotation and appropriate support equipment.
- Monitoring the dive and responding to simulated team emergencies.
Scope and safety
ERD Tender certifies the tender role. It does not authorize the graduate to perform public safety dives as a diver. Team-specific procedures and ongoing practice remain part of operational readiness.
