07/23/2022 Ziegler's Zoo 130 pm

Ziegler's Zoo is a fantastic deep water reef spot to explore. It begins to the south at approximately 100 ft on top divers will find a three-step reef with depths of approximately 110 ft in the sand off of the western ledge. The reef runs predominantly North but shortly after reaching the bottom divers will find that the reef has a double dog leg extending toward the west. In strong current it is best to stay low and tight to the lower part of the ledge in order to not be pulled over the top of the reef and away from the ledge.

Lots of different marine life inhabit Ziegler's zoo. You will find a number of different species of sharks. It is also known as a good spot for catching lobster and lionfish do to it's very deep ledges.Beyond being a good spot for the underwater Hunter it is also an excellent site for the sightseeing diver as well as the underwater photographer.

As the diver progresses North The reef becomes slightly shallower at about 80 ft on top and 95 ft in the sand. This is where Ziegler Zoo starts to become Larry's Ledge.
