Fourth Window

Latitude: 26 42.680' N

Longitude: 080 00.980' W

Part of The Breakers Reef, Fourth Window is named for its landmark of putting the black chimney in line with the 4th window on the north section of tthe Breaker’s Hotel, this N/S running ledge is the most regularly dived by the commercial boats. The ledge is easy to find and follow in either direction. It varies in height from 5 - 10 feet with depths of 66’ to the sand, about 45-55’ on top. Lots of undercuts where nurse sharks and morays hangout. Lots of growth and plenty of fish. You will pass a large ledge and outcropping called King Neptune. A HUGE school of Atlantic Spadefish generally hang out here (see next site). There is a cave in the reef (about midway) that is a big undercut and has large schools of fish there. Look for nurse sharks. Fingers along the reef that run east to west can be explored if the is a mild current. Look at the large sandy blowout areas for sharks hanging out at cleaning stations. Lemon sharks frequent this dive site. At several points you will encounter some heavily encrusted cables. These are actual transatlantic cables that bring phone and internet to the Bahamas.
